Since 2011, she holds an endowed Chair and is Director at the Center for Applied Ethics of the University of Wisconsin-Stout. As an associate professor, Elizabeth researches and teaches in the areas of information and research ethics. She was a 2006-07 Wisconsin Teaching Scholar, designated by the UW System Office of Professional and Instructional Development; is current Chair of the Association of Internet Researchers Ethics Working Group, Co-Director of the International Society of Ethics and Information Technology (INSEIT); and was Chair of the Wisconsin Library Association Intellectual Freedom Round Table. She is the co-author, with Kathrine Henderson, of  Case Studies in Library and Information Science Ethics (McFarland Press) and editor of Readings in Virtual Research Ethics. She was a 2006  recipient, with Charles Ess, of a National Science Foundation Ethics and Values in Science Grant on Internet Research Ethics ($175,000); and a National Science Foundation Recovery Act award of $375,000 for the Internet Research Ethics Commons. She was a National Center for E-Social Science Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford in 2009. She was also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Center for the Study of Bioethics, Medical College of Wisconsin, and a frequent consultant and speaker on internet-related research ethics. She and Charles Ess founded and edit the new International Journal of Internet Research Ethics.
